Description:  The Alarians originators of the collaboration the Horde; brought the other two races together.  The Alarians are directed by a guiding philosophy of good old fashion greed and lust for power achieved by conquest, dictatorships, and raping a planet of its resources whether they were animal, vegetable or mineral.  Black, dark blue or green hair.   Black teeth.  Black blood.   Blue spit.

Writing Origin:  Based on the blue aliens, the Gamilas, in the starship Yamato series that I watched as s kid.

First Appearance:  In the short story Recover and Discovered by a team lead by Faith Westlock  (mentioned as doing an economic study in Disconnect)

Description:  A race of pure scientists, insect like aliens,  emotionless at least to humanoids,  society cloaked in secrecy to outsiders,  even the Alarians do not know where their home world is.

Writing Origin:  The other end of the spectrum from the Stetonians, hyper dependent on tech.

Description:  The Auto-Doc is an medical evaluation and treatment device.  A cabinet like device used able to fit humans and treat them for all major and minor injuries and conditions.  The more serious the injury or condition the longer a person must remain in the device.  Built on the B.E.D. device.   Auto-Docs are found on most Charlie Class ships and above.

Description:  a passive means of detection used in space.  Visual, sound and detection of energy used in locating and determining energy emitted or reflected from an object or ship.

Description:  Scanners are active detection devices, using a variety of projected energy including but not limited to x-rays, infrared energy, sound waves, radio waves, and other a variety of other types of focused or wide beam energy.    Typically not used when a ship is attempting to remain undetected.   Similar in principle to active sonar used in submarines.
